The Myth of Holding It All Together (And the Sacred Power of Letting Go)

You were never meant to carry everything. Especially not alone. Especially not in silence.

As a mother of triplets, I’ve lost count of the times I’ve thought, “If I just try harder… if I just organize better… if I just push through…”

Minimalism taught me to let go of things. But motherhood? It taught me to let go of the illusion of control.

What I’m learning now—slowly, painfully, beautifully—is that real minimalism starts inside.
It starts when we stop trying to be everything for everyone.
It begins the moment we whisper: “This is too much.”
And instead of feeling shame, we feel relief.

Letting go isn’t failure. It’s freedom.

And every time I release one expectation, one should, one lie about being the perfect mother…
I come closer to the truth:
I don’t have to hold it all. I just have to be here.

What’s one emotional expectation you’re carrying that you could gently put down today? Let that be your minimalist practice.
